IPOT Releases Dog Scent Lineup Report
The Innocence Project of Texas released a report today entitled “Dog Scent Lineups: A Junk Science Injustice.” The report describes the procedures employed by Deputy Keith Pikett, whose work has led to the incarceration of countless numbers of Texas citizens, including multiple individuals who were later proven innocent by DNA evidence or confessions made by the actual perpetrators. Experts criticize Pikett’s procedures and the lack of scientific methods employed during his scent lineups. Summaries of their opinions are included in IPOT’s report.
