81st Legislative Session
During Texas’s 81st Legislative session, several innocence-related bills made their way through the legislature. Specifically, bills were drafted to address the prevention of wrongful convictions resulting from faulty eyewitness identification procedures, false confessions, and the use of jailhouse informants. In addition, bills aimed at reversing wrongful convictions and compensating exonerees after their release from prison were also introduced.
